What is the Sheffield 9 website all about?
The website was originally started in 2005 using the 244.org.uk domain name but this didn’t resonate as to what the website was about. The 244 came from the telephone number code with most local telephone numbers starting with 244.
It was changed to http://www.sheffield9.net in 2007 when the focus was to unite the local towns into a small network of connected communities and businesses. The problem being that although the towns are situated next to one another, the public transport links to the shops and services are non-existent.
The only way we can connect each of the Sheffield 9 towns is virtually through this website channel of residents and businesses. We aim to connect residents to local services and employment opportunities in a way that reduces pollution and material resources.
